Billboard Calls Attention To Murder
A new electronic billboard was unveiled in Peters Township Monday, calling atttention to the disappearance and killing 30 years ago of 15-year-old Christine Guenther, a junior at Peters Township High School. Chris was last seen in Peters, five days before her body was found by a hunter in a wooded area of South Fayette Township in Allegheny County. The billboard will be at Valley Brook and Washington Roads (Route 19). Friends of the teenager staged various events this weekend to call attention to the case, including Mass at St. Benedict the Abbot Church in McMurray Saturday morning and services at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Sunday morning. There is a website about the case: (www.ChrisGuentherMurder.com) and a Facebook page. Family friend Diane Postrech tells WJPA NEWS she believes someone is still out there who knows what happened to Chris and is pleading with them to come foward with any information. District Atttorney Steve Toprani says he is certainly willing to prosecute any "cold case" once police are able to identify a suspect and make an arrest and says he applauds these kinds of groups who keep cases like this in front of the public.
